Review: Skylight (PC)

Dragoon Entertainment recently released Skylight, a 2-D, RPG game is set in 2023 Canada with a story spanning a few years. Currently, humans are being deformed by a Skylight Symbodite. The main characters are law enforcement officers, called GTAL, who were brought in to protect the citizens and stop the Skylight Symbodite. They have a small selection of weapons available to them, rifles, shotguns, ect. With each encounter, a list of options comes up to choose from in a turn based fashion. Once the opponent is defeated, the player can move onto the next area. There are buildings that need to be searched, and thugs to find. Each character is faced with their own problems, either at work or at home.

The controls leaves something to be desired. When moving around the arrow keys are used. Pushing more than one button at once makes for a difficult movement control, sometimes even confusing. There is a lot of repetition through the game, the same movements and actions for each of the fights. The characters themselves are drawn very similar to each other. The environments in which the game is set also needswork. The buildings are very plain, with the colors as one of the only variance. The fight sequences are all the same, which tend to get confusing with the timing bar.

The story of this game was hard to follow and there was no real direction to the game. There was too much bouncing back and forth with the story, and too many cut scenes. A little more explanation of the controls would have been nice. I think with a little more work, it could turn out to be a somewhat interesting game. There are a few things that need fixed, as well as a storyline to help the player, but after that it could turn out to be an okay game.

Verdict: N/A
