Start Me Up – A Second View at Harcos Labs

Last week CtrlAltKill‘s own Joanna Giebel decided to get her party on and knock back some energy potion with a side order of powder.  She survived the lab test, so how did it fare with someone else?

There are only a few moments in life when I am willing to risk my life to accomplish something for the greater good.  I would throw myself in front of a bus to save a mischievous little kid from not looking both ways when crossing the street; I’d jump off the Sears Tower to accurately record how fast a human body could plummet hundreds of feet above the ground at my body mass; and I would even take a bullet if that would appropriately get me laid.

Despite my courageous acts of heroism, I’m not one to dive right into energy drinks or little pick me ups.  In the past I have found them ineffective, or they simply taste like I just licked up a bathroom floor from Madison Square Guarden.  Nonetheless, I’m always on the lookout for some cheap ways to get my body to produce more of that rambuctious energy my peers and foes so dearly love.

Harcos Labs hopes they have found the products that can bypass my selective digestive system and give me the energy I so dearly need, especially for those late night gaming sessions.  Upon first receiving the items, I thought I was being setup for a suicide.  The energy potion can easily be fooled as a bottle of poison, and when you glance upon a powder tube with big bold print saying “BARIUM” – perhaps my time has come.

Thankfully – poison it is not.  Energy they are, but how long do they go for?  Upon giving their ‘Mana’ flavor energy potion a go, it’s about reactive as your standard energy drink – which for me isn’t very long.  Energy drinks normally give me a boost of about thirty minutes.  What Harcos has done right is the lack of a bitter after taste that I found in other energy drinks.  I stayed away from such because of taste.  You won’t find any of that bitterness or “too much sugar” taste in these shots.

Given that it didn’t do much to blow up my energy, I can only preach that it will be as effective as any other energy drink you have consumed in the past.  The question is, do you want that bitter after taste or do you want to go with Harcos?  Given their video game-appeal to their products, I say give it a go.

If potions are not your thing, you can try their variety of energy powders.  Black Cherry was my flavor of choice, but it’s about as effective as a pixie stick.  It does contain 90MG of Caffeine so it will give you that quick kick you need, but the effect isn’t anything noteworthy.  These powders do not require to be mixed into drinks, they can be taken as is. Again, given their video game-appeal, they are worth a shot.

Bottomline, Harcos Labs provides an alternative energy solution if you aren’t satisfied with what you normally buy.  I never was much for Red Bull, 5-Hour Energy, or the other twelve dozen distributors out there and Harcos Labs didn’t do much to change my view.  It did provide a decent after taste, and didn’t give me the feeling that I consumed used cat litter (here’s looking at you 5-Hour Energy).  Give them a try,
