E3 2011: Lace up your shoes for Mario and Sonic at the 2012 Olympics
Returning for another chance at winning the gold Mario, Sonic, and friends come together to compete in several major Olympic events. This sequel to the Beijing 2008 game adds some new events to the line up and updates original events to work better with the Wii remote and Wii motion plus.
The graphics and sound are of the quality you would expect from Nintendo even in the preview build. The graphics are colorful and lively, though they do not seem to represent London in any particular way. All the characters have their familiar voices and the sound effects are the cartoony effects commonly found in Mario games. There were no problems with the controls and even sports like horse back riding were fun to play. Everything feels a little tighter than the previous version.
This may be another sport collection game for the Wii, but it has enough charm and variety to set it apart from the usual sport themed Wii game. While some people may not care about the Olympic games this entry into the Mario and Soinc at the Olympics series will be something that fans and non-fans of the Olympics can both enjoy.
