Most Anticipated Console Exclusives For Fall/Holiday 2011

The end of summer marks the start of the busiest part of the year for game releases. Fall and holiday is the time where most AAA titles hit the market, and it is also a time where gamers feel their wallets empty. 2011 is no exception to the rule, so I thought I would go over my biggest fall titles. However, as a PC gaming site, I don’t think it’s fair to consoles to pick my most-anticipated multi-platform games—it’s a given I would play them on PC—so I will be highlighting my most-anticipated console exclusives for Fall/Holiday 2011.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten (PS3)
As an RPG junkie, I would have to say this game is first on my list. Disgaea is one of my favorite game series this generation. I know it has been around since before the PS3, but I started with Disgaea 3. The writing is humorous and silly. The gameplay is deep and gives the player different ways to tackle the same fight. The visuals for Disgaea 4 are getting an upgrade, so the sprites will be higher resolution. If you are an RPG junkie with a PS3, and you like games that have hundreds of hours of playability, then Disgaea 4 may be the game you have been waiting for.

Dark Souls (PS3/360)
Two complaints that I hear far too much from gamers are that modern games are too easy, and that developers hold your hand too much. Well, enter Dark Souls, the sequel to 2009s controller-breaking, rage-inducing game, Demon’s Souls. Dark Souls is a game where it will only take one mistake to completely derail any progress a player is making, however, this makes for an experience that is tough yet completely refreshing. The large bosses and elaborate fights will make for a gaming experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Uncharted 3 (PS3)
If you have a PlayStation 3, then this comes as a no-brainer. Naughty Dog have developed two absolutely stunning entries in this franchise already, and Uncharted 3 looks like it will continue this proud tradition. Uncharted 3 is a game that truly pushes the limits of what a console can do, but manages to maintain a consistent framerate while making this push. The series has been known for having wonderful characters, excellent, playful banter amongst characters, and fun, inventive storylines that balance suspense with blockbuster action sequences. If you own a PS3 and don’t buy this game, then I hope you just use the PS3 to watch Blu-rays.

Gears of War 3
This is in the list just so I don’t get shit for not putting it on my list. I hear Gears of War is a game. I hear a lot of people like it. I have the first two games; maybe I should get on it.

Resistance 3
In Resistance 3, gamers will play as soldier Joseph Capelli. The third Resistance game follows Capelli’s Kerouac-esqe journey from Oklahoma to New York. Along the way, Capelli will meet other survivors of the Chimeran invasion. The journey won’t be without its fair share of bloodshed. Resistance 3 will be reintroducing many of the crazy guns from the franchise, and most guns have newer, crazier alternate fires. Actually, his journey isn’t very much like Kerouac’s at all…
