Mod Monday: Play Resident Evil 5 With Wii Controls
Monday, September 26, 2011
No Move? No problem.
WHAT YOU NEED
- RE5 on PC
- Wiimote/Nunchuk
- Sensor Bar
- Bluetooth adapter
- GlovePIE (I use with Emotiv, but no clue if it’s required)
- RE5 GlovePIE config
WHAT TO DO
- Start GlovePIE and click File–Open–re5.PIE
- If you’re not playing at 1920×1080, change the 1920s and 1080s in the first few lines of the config to whatever respective resolution they need to be at, then click Run at the top by the green arrow. Your Wiimote should now have the first LED on if it’s synced properly.
- Start up RE5. You now need to set the keyboard/mouse controls to look like the following pic, and make sure they’re set to default otherwise.
- Enjoy.
Some things to note:
- I recommend you play with these once you get infinite ammo just in case things glitch out mid-level.
- I might just be sitting too close to the sensor bar, but the cursor can get a bit wonky sometimes in menus, so you might use a mouse or controller to navigate them. The gameplay is spot-on, though.
- QTEs are doable with this setup, but not ideal. For the A+D icon, simply wiggle the analog stick left and right repeatedly very quickly and it’ll register, and F+V is + and A on the Wiimote.
- Wesker+Jill fight, skip it. It’s all a glorified cutscene, anyway.
- Turret levels/portions are fully playable with this control setup, but they’re highly sensitive.
