Origin Tries To Be More Like Steam Introducing Its Cloud Storage Beta For Game Saves

Origin released a client update to version 8.3 today introducing the cloud storage beta similar to Steam and PSN’s cloud saving system just in time for Battlefield 3. Storage in the beta is limited to PSN’s paid for limit of 100 MB with PSN Plus while Steam’s free storage is seemingly unlimited as long as you have the game for each save connected using Steam Play.

Steam wasn’t 100 percent when it launched day 1 much to the chagrin of PC gamers who only wanted to play Half-Life 2 or Counter-Strike 1.6, but as time went on Valve earned gamers’ trust with community features, steam play, and infrastructures to which the rest of the industry aspires to. It remains to be seen whether EA can earn this similar trust considering their history and backlash from gamers. Origin’s high entry level game comparable to Counter-Strike 1.6 is Battlefield 3, which can only be played online with a launch from Origin. Although multiplayer requires Origin, the singleplayer portion of Battlefield 3 is confirmed to have an offline play.
