Mod Monday: World of Warcraft Edition

With Blizzcon taking place last weekend, there were a great deal of announcements, but none were quite as genius as the World of Warcraft annual pass. The real genius of the annual pass was the inclusion of Diablo 3, a mount, and beta access. I think that a lot of WoW players that were on the fence about coming back to WoW will be returning. So, this Monday, Mod Monday will cover 5 of my must have add-ons for world of Warcraft. Just an FYI, I’m not a WoW scrub. I am in a 6/7 HM Firelands guild.

1. Hydra’s TukUI
Hydra’s TukUI is the Inception of add-ons, as it is an add-on based on an add-on. Hydra’s edit to TukUI is cleans up the clunky WoW interface and gives it a clean, sexy look. Every component of this UI can be moved and toggled on or off. There is a lot to learn while using this UI, but after you master it, it’s wonderful. You can also edit the files and make the UI even more custom, but that takes knowledge of editing LUA files.

2. Skada Damage Meters
As any raider knows, knowing your DPS is always key in a fight. Basing your DPS off of world parses and using the add-on to make sure that you are pulling good numbers is the key to DPS success. I find Skada to be more accurate than Recount.

3. ForteXorcist
ForteXorcist is a buff/debuff add-on that allows for players to micromanage not only their buffs and debuffs, but the debuffs that they have applied to enemies, which makes it awesome if you play a class that needs to reapply dots during a fight. It has a custom set of bars and looks nice with the rest of your set up. I’m simplifying my explanation of this add-on, but a full explanation would take quite a long time.

4. Deadly Boss Mods
This should be self-explanatory to anyone who has ever raided, but it is the key add-on in any serious raiding guild. It tells you when to get out of fire. Enough said.

5. Quartz
Quartz is an add-on casting bar that allows you to place a custom casting bar for yourself and enemies. It is extremely useful if you are on interrupt duty during a boss fight. The bar can be resized and it is another sexy add-on to add to your arsenal.

I hope that this crash course on WoW add-ons has proven useful, if you have any add-ons that you think are viable, list them in the comments.
